The month of March is more than just a time of four leaf clovers, leprechauns and a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow; it is National Professional Social Work month. Many Lights Foundation would like to highlight this important group of professionals who work to help people find a better life. In the U.S. there are more than 650,000 social workers who are able to look beyond people’s current life situations and see a way for them to begin building a better future.
Social workers play an integral role in the lives of children who are found to be living in unhealthy environments – they are the catalysts for igniting hope in these children’s lives. The job of a social worker is no small task. Often times their job causes them to see the unspeakable ways people can interact with each other, but this burden is one they willingly accept because the rewards of their job can be so great. Watching people dream, hope and heal from their past makes the struggles of being a social worker worth it. One could say this is their pot of gold at the end of a rainbow of hope.
So this month, take a moment to show your appreciation for the social workers in your community and let them know their efforts do not go unnoticed.
